Troubleshooting
Most problems show themselves in the app: a meter that does not move, a stage that stays grey, a line of status text. Start there.
Common problems
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| A meter stays at -60 dB | Devices → pick the device the call actually plays on (System audio) or the microphone you speak into, then start capture again |
| The Answer window stays empty in JB-Live | It is listening to a silent source: set Questions come from to where the question really is; the Answer engine card says “heard 0 chars” when this happens |
| Speech input is not ready | Sign in, or add your own key in Your setup, then press Check again in Training → Set up |
| An overlay is off screen | Plug the display back in or wait a moment: overlays left off every display are moved back to the main one |
| Windows says it protected your PC | The installer is not code-signed yet: More info → Run anyway, or compare the SHA-256 shown on the download page |
| Agent 02 does not answer in training, or answers very late | Install the current version: builds from before 18 September 2026 counted a voice model’s streamed silence as speech and held Agent 02 back. Then check Devices → JB-Live agents and keep runs short |
| A hotkey does nothing | Another app owns it; JBWhisper reports the conflict, and the Transcript window's buttons do the same |
When you need more
The logs in %APPDATA%\SecondBrain\AI Interviewer\data\logs record each session, every answer decision and every rejected command, without your keys.
